Future Champs II Classes

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for ages 7-9 — real technique, partner drilling, and the first controlled sparring, in a true peer group. First class free.

Ages 7-9

Future Champs II at Gracie Barra Round Rock is where the technical side of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu becomes real for children ages 7 to 9. Students at this level have the physical coordination, attention span, and social maturity to learn genuine positions and transitions — and the curriculum reflects that. This is not simplified movement activity. Classes cover escapes, sweeps, and basic submission defenses with the same progression and structure that defines the Gracie Barra system worldwide, taught at a pace and intensity calibrated for this specific age group.

Prof. Andre Sena introduces controlled sparring in Future Champs II, which is the experience that separates Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from every other activity on a Round Rock family's list. Live training with a peer — someone your own size, at your own level, with an instructor watching — teaches problem-solving under real pressure. Children learn to stay calm, to try a technique they practiced last week, to tap and keep training. Those lessons carry directly into how they handle difficulty in every other part of their lives.

The Future Champs II room serves children from throughout Williamson County — families from Pflugerville's Falcon Pointe and Blackhawk neighborhoods, from Hutto's Star Ranch subdivision, and from north Round Rock communities near the Dell campus make the drive specifically for this age-banded structure. The GB Round Rock kids program is the only one in this part of the county with four distinct tiers; Future Champs II students are not competing for mat time with teenagers or six-year-olds.

Class times run Monday and Wednesday at 5:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM, and Saturday at 8:00 AM. The first class is free. Call (512) 287-9823 to book or ask about the curriculum.

Why Train Future Champs II?

  • First real BJJ technique for ages 7-9 — escapes, sweeps, and submission defenses taught in structured sequence, not as games.
  • Controlled sparring introduced by Prof. Andre Sena in a supervised, peer-matched format that builds genuine problem-solving under pressure.
  • Separate age-banded room — no mixed-age classes — so curriculum can move at the pace 7 to 9-year-olds are actually ready for.
  • Five weekly sessions including Saturday 8:00 AM — reliable scheduling for families from Pflugerville, Hutto, and north Round Rock.
  • Anti-bullying confidence built through real technique: children learn to stay calm and think, not to react with aggression.
  • Direct progression path from Future Champs and into Juniors at age 10 — a clear, unbroken GB curriculum from age 3 through 14.
